Some people seem to think that spiritual growth or enlightenment is a race. When they feel they are winning, they tell others. Your life tells others and that is a much stronger statement. Let your life speak your growth and you will find yourself making an impact. In your presence, people may lift their vibrations to be more pure, more harmonious, if those are the vibrations you are modeling.

Some feel that they must subscribe to a certain set of belief systems to gain enlightenment. Spiritual evolution has nothing to do with your beliefs. You could have New Age beliefs, or Voodoo beliefs or Buddhist beliefs. It does not matter what your concepts are. If you live your life in spirit, in grace, in goodness for all, then you are spiritually evolving.

Belief systems and judgments of others’ beliefs are limitations to your growth. It is difficult to have an expansive life with constricting beliefs. It is very important not to judge and not to decide that others’ beliefs are less than or greater than yours. When you find yourself stuck in that evaluation, take a breath and connect back to the Source; because Source knows no differentiation, it knows no judgments or evaluations.

Since belief systems are so ingrained in your world and so much a part of your lives, we will introduce a little process to help you identify your negative belief systems and to move through them.

The Process

On the first day, take a sheet of paper and write down all your belief systems that you can think of. Some will be small and seem irrelevant. Others will seem quite large and you won’t like to admit to them. But write them all down without judgment. For instance, you may believe that you should always pass the salt shaker when you pass the pepper, or perhaps that your washcloths should always match the towels. Write these down and write down the ones that you do not like as well. This may take several days. You should end up with a good sized list. It is important not to edit it.

Now go through the list and cross out all the belief systems that you are willing to change at the very moment your pen goes across the page. If you think that you will have to work on it to change it, do not cross it out. You have to know that as you are crossing the line, it is gone as a belief system in your life.

So you will eliminat3e quite a few, yet there will still be some that you are not ready to give up and some that you still keep because you are embarrassed that you have them in the first place. You must claim it as your own before you can cross it off. Do this for the next couple of days. Cross beliefs off the list or add some more that you realize. Go through the list at least twice a day and see if you can cross out ones that you were not ready to give up before.

On the fifth day, or whatever it has taken, take another sheet of paper and write down all of the things you now have as a result of letting go of those belief systems; all of the freedoms that you now have. So, for instance, now that you no longer believe that all ties have to be striped, you have the freedom of expanding your wardrobe. Write down all of your new freedoms and by doing so, you will gain energy. So then you have moved from belief systems to freedoms; from constriction to expansion.

The next aspect of this process is to deal with fears. Fears are related to belief system, but you get at them a different way. So now, write down all of the things that you are afraid of; little and big, humiliating and mortifying. This may take a couple of days. Then do the same thing that you did before. Cross out the fears that you are willing to let go of the moment the pen crosses the line. “I will no longer be afraid of speaking in public”, for example. You must claim it and hold that energy to be true as you cross it out. Then go through it the next day and so on. After you have done that, just as you had freedoms from releasing belief systems, write down all of the gifts it gives you to not have those fears anymore.

You may still have plenty on your lists, but you want to whittle it down so that you have more room to expand, more room to fill with love and light. Belief systems and fears to freedoms and gifts, what a wonderful and empowering energetic state to be in!
